Fabric: Georgette

Design: Hand Batik using dip and dye technique of “Sun Blast”. Sun-set with a story depiction of the sun “blasting into existence” in the artist’s Aboriginal Dreamtime. Acknowledging they were the first human beings on this Earth to have studied Astronomy and used it extensively in their culture and spiritual beliefs. Silver mirror embellishments reflect the evening stars of the dusk.

Sri Lankan Batik is a beautiful hand art that involves a meticulous process of wax-resist dyeing to create intricate and colourful patterns on fabric. This traditional technique, brought to life by Sri Lankan batik artisans, has been elevated by Saree Selections through a collaboration with Aboriginal artist and Biripi Elder, Dr Leonard Smith from New South Wales. Bora Circles, into a stunning handmade batik design on a unisex Kaftan short top. This unique fusion of Aboriginal artistry and Sri Lankan craftsmanship celebrates both cultures while creating a meaningful, wearable piece of art that honours heritage and creativity.
